ABOUT ME

Who are you?

I am a seeker and I am always seeking to experience and pass on more of the abundant life. I have a passion to see people break free from painful relational patterns with others, with God, and even with themselves, and to experience more intimacy, joy and peace. I enjoy teaching, leading groups, and speaking at conferences and retreats. I have been married to Mike for over 31 years and, together, we lead marriage retreats and relational intensives. Together, we have three married children— Samuel & Abby, Davis & Maddy, and Ashlyn & Tyler. In my spare time, I love hanging out with my family and friends, spending quiet time each morning with a good cup of coffee and God and His Word, watching football, dancing, traveling, and watching movies based on true stories.  I am still growing and learning to be patient with my own humanness. I love helping others do the same, to feel accepted and not alone.

WHY DId YOU BECOME A THERAPIST?

After experiencing my own personal journey of healing and growth through counseling, I left a career as a CPA to pursue my Masters in Christian Counseling from Oral Roberts University. I have been counseling for over 29 years, including 10 years in Austin at the Center for Relational Care. The Intimacy Principles I learned and experienced at CRC have had a major impact on my relationships and are the basis for the therapy I do. In addition,  Emotional Transformation Therapy has helped me make great strides in my own journey and has been one of the best therapies I have incorporated into my practice.  It has enhanced my ability to help my clients experience rapid relief and positive life changes more than any other intervention I have ever used.

Is breakthrough really possible in my RELATIONSHIPS?

I have been an LPC for 29 years and have had a very successful practice.  I was already able to help get highly conflicted couples that were very stuck onto a different path much of the time.  However, at times there were deep-rooted issues that did not budge no matter what we tried. Now I can use ETT with them individually and see those issues shift very quickly, which greatly affects the progress in marriage counseling.  I am so excited to be able to offer this to all my clients, couples as well as individuals, because it helps with such a wide variety of issues from depression and anxiety, addiction, OCD, PTSD, and much more. So many of these issues arise from implicit subconscious memories.  ETT techniques allow me to help the client retrieve and resolve these underlying issues.

What is EMOTIONAL TRANSFORMATION THERAPY?

Emotional Transformation Therapy (ETT®) is form of therapy that often rapidly alleviates emotional distress as well as physical pain which has been caused by that stress. The term “transformation” refers to the unusual degree of improvement that occurs when ETT facilitates change through the therapeutic use of light and/or color wavelengths. It is a non-drug approach that can bypass the intellect and directly relieve unresolved emotions around personal conflicts. ETT combines the best of the new research on interpersonal therapy with new discoveries in visual brain stimulation.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU DO?

I am trained in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), EMDR, ETT, and Intimacy Therapy. Although I utilize ETT often, I also draw from my 29 years of experience to understand how to best help my clients heal.

What SHOULD I EXPECT FROM ETT THERAPY?

It is common to feel confused after an ETT session because experiences may take place so quickly and strongly by a means that is unfamiliar to most people. How could looking at a light, a color or changing the angle at which light enters the eyes have such a strong effect? It is not commonly known that the system of nerves that carry out vision extends throughout the brain and nervous system. By carefully using this visual neural system in recently discovered ways, changes can be made that are quite striking. Therefore, it is important to trust the reality of your experience, not previous ideas about how therapy works or how your brain works.
